Mitten Foundation will be awarding individual heating bill assistance grants of up to $500 per household to West Side residents in need of financial assistance this winter.

To be considered for these grants, please complete and return the application by February 28th, 2018. Applications are available by clicking here, or in person at the office of West Grand Neighborhood Organization (415 Leonard St NW). They are open M-F from 9am to 5PM.

This program will be endowed with funds from West Side businesses The Mitten Brewing Company and The Mitten State Apparel Co. Local neighborhood organization, West Grand (WGNO), will be processing the applications.

"Two Mittens IPA," a collaboration brew between the Two Mittens, will be available for sale all winter long at The Mitten Brewing Co.'s Grand Rapids taproom, and a portion of the proceeds from its sale will fund this program.

For each West Side tee sold, TMS will donate $10 toward funding this grant!

Charitable Giving:

Mitten Foundation

Mitten Foundation plans to partner with a few, carefully selected, local non-profit organizations in an effort to raise both funds and awareness. With the help of its staff and customers, the Mitten has raised more than $100,000 for local organizations since opening in 2012.

The foundation's criteria for choosing non-profit partners is twofold: the organization must be local, and they must be small enough that the donation will make a measurable difference. The foundation strives to connect each dollar donated to the effect it has.

The Mitten Brewing Company was humbled to receive the West Michigan Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professional’s 2015 “President’s Award” in recognition of its commitment to fundraising. The company plans to expand its community involvement efforts as it grows, and they recently started an employee volunteer program that provides staff with opportunities to become personally involved with non-profit partners.

For more information about the Mitten Foundation’s non-profit partners, how you can get involved with the foundation, and all other donation inquiries, please contact Dana Mate Dones at dana@mittenbrewing.com
